GrowSave visits GreenTech
Jon Swain went on behalf of GrowSave to GreenTech, Amsterdam RAI to see what’s new and here are some photos and videos of what he found.
Hoogendorn Automation’s Connected Screens programme, which manages greenhouse conditions under screens better by knowing exactly the characteristics of the installed screen, which is another step towards micro control of greenhouse climate.
Van Der Valk Horti Systems showcased an innovation which is a two layer greenhouse cladding system, dubbed 2saveenergy, this has a conventional glass cladding with a diffuse film of plastic underneath to give a combined diffuse light benefit and a double glazing effect.
The shift away from glass as a cladding material is yet to gain momentum and many diffuse glass types were in evidence, although there seemed to be some interest in ETFE as an alternative.
Priva Deleafing Robot
GreenTech Innovation Award overall winner this year was Priva with their deleafing robot. The robot is designed to work leaf by leaf to almost eliminate risk of disease carry over and tackles one of the least popular crop tasks.
LEDs for vertical farming
The final session of Thursday discussed how LED lights are a very good fit for vertical farming to provide a manageable closed environment, keeping plants safe from disease and giving good yields for some crops such as lettuce.
Other technology showcased included two different types of vertical air movement fans from Multifan and Nivola.
